Maha Samadhi Divas

Vijayadasami is a major festival celebrated throughout India under different names and with regional variations, as the victory of good over evil. It is also known as Dusserah and is the culmination of the nine days of goddess worship., For Sai devotees, it is venerated as the holy day that their beloved SADGURU attained Mahasamadhi on 15th October,1918 at the afternoon 02.28PM (also known as Punyatithi) and is a big festival in Shirdi. This was also the day on which the statue of Baba "came to life" and was inaugurated in the Samadhi Mandir, Shirdi.

Just before leaving the body, He put His hand in His pocket and gave her once Rs.5/- and again Rs.4/-, in all Rs.9/-. This figure (9) is indicative of the nine types of devotion (Navda Bhakti) described in chapter 21 or it may be the Dakshina offered at the time of Seemollanghan. He always wanted that his devotees should follow the right path in their lives and keep feeding the Humans. Continuing on the same path with His Holy Grace “Shirdi Sai Rasoi” does Maha Bhandara every year since 2005, started feeding from 5000 people to 45,000 on this auspicious day of “MAHA SAMADHI DIWAS”
